A letter of hope
Posted in Blog
CRANTI received this letter from five women of Bavla taluka recently (reproduced in English from Gujarati original):
To,
Mallika Sarabhai,
“The poors’ messiah”
We, the undersigned are from Nanodara village in Bavla taluka. We had written to you regarding the difficulties we were facing in obtaining loans from the banks in Bavla. You heard our troubles and took us to the Reserve Bank of India in person, and lodged our complaints with the manager. As a result, we could obtain a loan to purchase a bull from the Bavla branch of Punjab National Bank without any fees or difficulty. We can now sustain our five families and make a living from the bull. We are grateful to you for having heard us and fulfilled our need.
We also pledge to fight for the rights of Dalits and the poor in a similar fashion, support your work and strengthen the struggle for a new dawn.
Namaskar,

- Sonara Sitaben Govindbhai
- Sonara Kokilaben Jagdishbhai
- Sonara Kalaben Nareshbhai
